In an attempt to upgrade MP to the latest version (complete with movng pictures and streamed MP), I completely uninstalled mediaportal (RC2) and installed the latest version (MP 1 Final)and applied svn 02-28-2009, after original attempt was causing my pc to reboot.

This didn't change anything and reboots continued.

kmplayer started to report error message 40242 when playing TS files (h264) and displayed 16:9 material in 4:3. changing the renderer to vm7 (windowed) from my usual overlay sorts out the aspect ratio issue, but playback also remains choppy. why would kmplayer have been affected by mediaportal?

Using kmplayer outside of MP prompted the same response. The only thing that sorts out the playing of TS files is uninstalling MP, which is a shame as I do like it.

also tried installing latest version of directx9c redist and various other svns.

Have since tried installing RC3 and RC2 (which I had before with no problems). Unfortunately, mp is still interfering with kmplayer ts files (h264 recordings from sky). first theres a warning that it isnt a known file, then playback is choppy, in 4:3 and recognised as RGB where it used to say h264.

If it helps, when playing kmplayer (without MP installed) the info reads as follows:

0) - KMP Async Reader(Stranger than Fiction.TS)
1) - KMP MPEG2(TS) Splitter
2) - KMP Audio Codec
3) - CoreAVC Video Decoder
4) - AC3 Filter for LPCM
5) - OverlayMixer
6) - Video Renderer
7) - Default DirectSound Device

Decoder - (MPEG2) CoreAVC Video Decoder
Format - Major Type: Video - Sub Type: YUY2
VideoInfo2: YUY2 1920X-1080, 16 bits

sorry for the long post, but this is really doing my head in. everything worked harmoniously before i decided to upgrade.
