I may be posting in the wrong place - if so, forgive me and point me in the right direction please.
I have downloaded LAV filters as part of SAF - for use in Mediaportal.

I am using LAV Video Decoder for MPEG 2 standard def British TV. I have the display refresh rate at 50Hz.
I get frame dropping about once a second when using the LAV Decoder - but everything is OK using the MPC-MPEG2 Video Decoder (Gabest) Decoder.

Pressing Shift-1 in MePo shows the red line dipping sharply as the frame is dropped using LAV.
But the red line is flat using MPC-MPeg2 Gabest?

I much prefer the quality using LAV ( the crawling roller of BBC News 24 is blurred with Gabest) and anyway, Gabest is not available in HD - so help would be appreciated please.

What are your LAV video decoder settings ? (attaching a screen cap of the settings dialogue is probably best)

(Using DXVA2 native is probably the best bet for AMD graphics)

    Hi Tony,

I changed from No hardware decoder to DXVA2 Native - but unfortunately did not solve the problem.
But MPC Mpeg2 Gabest works ok ??? although the News24 text is blurred.
Settings pics attached as requested. Appreciate your help, thanks.

Just found out that the lines go completely flat when using LAV Video decoder in a non Aero windows theme?
Does this give a clue as to why I am dropping frames?

I see somewhat similar on win 7 with 50 hz on Danish DVB-C HD

Let me check whether disabling Aero has same effects in my end.

    Will get back

If it's working OK without Aero then don't worry about it - you may get some screen tearing (but probably not).

    Hi there,

Have you tried customising the aero theme - try disabling some of the transparancy effects...see if that helps (saves turning areo off completely)
