Hi,

I took me a couple of days to get DVB EPG working AND to understand, that it only works, after the EPG is received in the background (e.g. on idle or schedule).

Is it possible to get the live EPG? Every sat receiver receives the EPG directly and live while switching to a channel. So if there is no EPG information in the cache for this channel, I will see the EPG after 1-2 secs. With MediaPortal I don't see the EPG. How can I setup MediaPortal to directly receive the new EPG information while zapping to a new channel?

Regards,
Sascha

Hi snoopy87, you can receive the "live EPG" by selecting the "EPG grabbing while timeshifting/recording in the tv-server config. See here: http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Server_Configuration/05_DVB_EPG?highlight=epg
Then each time when you change a channel, the epg data is retrieved in the background (can take 1-3 min). After the epg is completely received it is displaed on your screen. You can watch this with the "manual" control in the server config. When changing the channel, it is not only displayed "timeshifting" but "timeshifting/grabbing"
Hope this helps.

Thanks, but this means, it takes a few minutes, until I see the EPG? While zapping I immediately want to see the EPG to know which tv program is running and when it started. I don't want to wait a few minutes to see this info, because then I could use my tv program magazine faster. A cheap dvb sat receiver is also able to receive the EPG info just in time. Why does it takes so long with MediaPortal? Maybe this should be a feature request :) This is also neccessary for channels who update their EPG in a very short time or only show the epg for the current program (e.g. Music channels which shows the song title).

Let the idle grabber to populate the EPG data at every night. This way you will get instant EPG after tuning. Currently there is no support for the "quick EPG data" sorry cannot remember DVB spec's correct name for that. The quick EPG data is transmited for current and next event on the specific channel (unlike the normal EPG data that is for the whole mux or even multiple transponders).

Ok, thanks for letting me know this! :)

I know the option of scheduling the EPG grabber e.g. for each night and this seems to be the only option to get the EPG :)

The "quick EPG" is what I'm looking for :) Would be really cool if this will be added in one of the next releases, because this is a functionality I would use most of the time, because I don't need to see what tv show will run tomorrow, etc. (only if I want to record it), but I want to immediately see what is running now when I'm zapping through the channellist. So it would be great if the quick EPG will be received for the channel and then for the transponder and will be shown directly, and then the whole EPG will be processed. :)
