Hi guys... So with your help I got my AverMedia USB tuner to work in MP, to a point. I can now scan for channels, I figured out all of the EPG stuff by reading everything here and got it working well enough (still going to add logos once everything else is sorted out)...

BUT, for whatever reason, no matter what I do, I can't get live TV (analog cable feed) to play for more than 2 seconds before it freezes on the screen. After that, SOMETIMES it'll hiccup a few times, but still remains frozen, and the only thing I can do is turn off the TV function and start again. On occasion it locks up MP completely, but usually not.

I've tried windowed and fullscreen, changing codecs and codec settings, reinstalling SAF and even reinstalling MP again. I've read and tried a ton of things on here from changing refresh rates to codec adjustments to driver updates etc. and nothing has fixed it. When used in 7MC, the live TV works fine... No freezing, not even a stutter. Also tried it in MPC-HC and it works (though the audio makes "popping" noises occasionally but that's another issue...).

Any suggestions? I have attached debug logs. (I deleted all logs first and then recreated the issue in debug mode, so the logs aren't very long which should make it easier to sift through, but I don't have much of an idea of what I'm looking at/for in the logs to find and fix this issue.)

Any help is, as always, appreciated.

JT

AW: Live TV plays for ~2 seconds then stops

    Hi prjetdss,

if I read your description, i could remember on problem which I had if I installed my first MP. My problem was that after some minutes 1 or 2 MP freezes. The problem was that I had all the radio and TV channels of the EPG activated and then the TV-Server was als scanning and updating and nothing else. After I reduced this by kick off all radio EGPs and most of the TV EPGs I had no problems. Meanwhile I'm updating all the EPG stuff over the Internet, because it's always available and not to 70%. Perhaps you have the same problem, I hope so, then you have a soution:)

    Regards,

Re: AW: Live TV plays for ~2 seconds then stops

Thanks for the reply... Before you answered (I posted this on the 20th!) I went through everything again and found exactly what you mentioned. I had no radio channels selected for EPG but I did select all the TV channels under the "DVB EPG/TV EPG Grabber", and it seems that it isn't even necessary at all because I'm using the XmlTv Plugin to get my listings (the mapping the first time is a little bit of a pain but once it's done, it's done, AND IT WORKS)... ANYWAY, after clearing all the check boxes off of the channels, I now have constant Live TV playback.

It would be great if someone would update the wiki and/or installation guides etc to better address these issues (like the fact that those channels do NOT have to be checked when using XmlTv plugin). It would save a lot of time and headaches for new users of MP. I can figure out most things on my own, and I don't post a question unless absolutely necessary and after having triied 101 ways to get it to work myself, so the fact that I had to post screams for the need to have better instructions/guides. Some of the wiki links just lead to blank pages! There's a page for supported tuners, but it has nothing listed. Doesn't help at all... Regardless, thanks for the input and for what it's worth, you were RIGHT on the money... That's what it took to fix it.

    Regards...
