I've been using MP for just a few days. I'm having a problem w/ moderate to severe stuttering when playing live broadcast TV. Occasionally the video (not audio) even freezes completely for up to a few seconds. My tuner is an HDHomerun, and I'm using MP 1.2.2 under win7 x64, running on a Revo 3610 (nvidia ion graphics). The pc and tuner are on a wired network. If I play the same TV channel thru the HDhomerun QuickTV application, it plays w/ no stuttering. The same pc plays ripped blurays in xbmc flawlessly, and bluray discs using PowerDVD. I think ripped blurays also play back ok in MP, altho I haven't had much opportunity to test this extensively. In other words, the only problem I've experienced w/ this system is Live TV with MP. I would appreciate any advice that will help me to get this working better, if possible.

it may sound strange and I didn't have any chance of validating - but ... when I installed atmowin the system went do Basic Scheme (so Aero turned off). As it didn't bother me through testing I left it and - my shtutter issues are gone ... it is totally against everything written in the wiki but for some reason it works for me. i have now set the environment settings to maximum performance so every effect is turned of and see no prob in the Live TV nor Video

I've tried:
- disabled the Aero desktop in windows, and changed settings to maximize performance, w/ no significant change.
- changed the timeshift directory to a dedicated esata disk w/ the vague idea there could be an issue writing the timeshift files to my system disk.
- changed to different codecs. Not sure which applies, but I changed both the mpeg2 and h.264 options. The microsoft option seems to work somewhat better than the others, but not adequately.
Nothing I've tried improves the performance enough to be usable. I have little clue what else to try. My next tack is to try and get the xbmc add-on to work and see how that performs.

I set up xbmc (eden rc2, with PVR support by margro) to use the MP TV server as its "backend" and so far live broadcast video works flawlessly. The MP support in xbmc has two variants, one that uses streaming, and one that directly reads the time-shifting files produced by TV server (I have a vague understanding of what that means), and both work well. It kind of looks to me like the problem w/ MP that I have is specifically in the decoding/rendering steps of the process. I prefer the interface to MP for watching live TV, but using xbmc is an adequate workaround.

I installed LAV Filters v0.49, selected DXVA2 for decoding and now most channels are ok in MP, but on channels that seem to be broadcasting in 720p resolution the video still occasionally freezes for a second or so. So either I am missing something or MP and its components don't do 720p (on a 1080p display) very well.
