    Hi,

Please note that we are aware of issues with conflict management,

0002850: Bugs in card allocation - MediaPortal Bugtracker

and these will be fixed as soon as someone has time!

However, thanks for reporting and I'll be interested if we can work out why jameson's system and yours do not behave the same.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thanks, but I'm not sure this mantis entry covers the fact that MP isn't displaying the "Had to stop timeshifting" message and leaving the screen with a frozen picture, which I'm sure you'll agree isn't very user-friendly.

    This is also in mantis,

    http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=2824

As with everything else, it will be fixed as soon as a developer finds out what is causing the problem and has time to fix it.

The community are welcome to provide fixes for these issues!

    Mark

Hope this one is sorted out soon.

    Situation:

    Card 1: RTL4 => REC : transponder 1
    Card 2: SBS6 => REC : transponder 2

If i watch RTL4 i get a message that timeshifting has to stop because of recording?!?!?!

There is something strange going on at oktober 8 19:57 hours. I see a lot of card selections for RTL4 after eachother.

That still leaves an issue as to why timeshifting is not using the same card as a recording.

Did you get chance to repeat the test with only one tuner enabled?

My other hunch is to do with schedules (IIRC you have a lot setup).

I noticed in your logs that it says
    Code:
    2010-10-08 17:06:16.328125 [(20)]: Scheduler : record on recommended card:3 priority:2
    where as I get
    Code:
    2010-10-08 15:00:36.843750 [(21)]: Scheduler : record on free card:3 priority:4

Now I have a feeling recommend cards are to do with the conflict manager and I am not sure anyone understands how that works 100%.

So as well as the single tuner test could you export all your schedules in TV Server config then delete them. Then retry the record BBC ONE and attempt to timeshift BBC TWO test and see what happens?

I've done the single tuner test now (logs attached) which worked fine and used the same card whilst recording BBC1 and watching it live, then switching to BBC2 live and then back to BBC1 again.

My current schedule has one recording on 13/10 and another on 14/10, so I can't see why they would affect anything. I've redone the test with both tuners enabled and it's used card 3 for the recording and card 2 for the timeshifting as before.

Can you delete the two schedules and try again? There is no reason why it should cause issues but.............

Also can you just check your database for errors

    Open up a command prompt
navigate to MySQL Bin folder (is C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin for me) and enter
    Code:
    mysqlcheck --user=root --pass=MediaPortal --auto-repair MPTVDB

I've had a chance to delete the schedules and re-do the test now. It didn't make any difference.

I've also checked the database. I don't think there was anything major, but I've posted the output below. I redid the test again after this, but as you can see from the logs, it didn't make any difference and the BBC1 recording is always assigned to card3 with the timeshifting of BBC2, then BBC1 assigned to card2:

    Code:
    mptvdb.canceledschedule OK
    mptvdb.card OK

How many client systems do you have? The report says "warning : 5 clients are using or haven't closed the table properly".

Maybe you are pushing the limits a bit much, I really don't know.

Out of interest, when did you last reboot all of your systems? I have found that sometimes it helps to turn everything off and reboot. Maybe this is the issue with database connections.

I don't have any client systems as such, this is a standalone HTPC, so I don't know what those messages are about.

I shutdown the PC every night, except for the odd occassion when I might need to leave it on to record something.
