Locking up on playing episode (2 Viewers)

When I try to play a episode in any of the TV series I have My TVseries freezes up and does not launch into the mediaportal player.
I have tried the following to correct this issue
1. Launch the external player still locks up at the same place
2. clear the database for tvseries and rescan
3. turn off subtitles
4. uninstall and reload mediaportal + plugins

The strange thing is I have had it working several times but after a while this seems to happen and it is always in the same spot when loading any episode from any series. I then have to then crash out of mediaportal and restart mediaportal . Everything else seems to work including movingpictures. No problem moving around in TV series or loading art work. I have tried loading different skins still have the same problem.

I am currently using mediaportal 1.10rc2 and StreamedMP 1.03 which includes Mytvseries.

Would appreciate any help with this please.

Mine will hang not only when I ask to play a show from inside TV-Series, but when it acts like this I can't play any Recorded-TV from My-TV either! Clearly there is a learning curve on TV Series to get the database formed right... if I have only a few items in the database (by pointing to a new directory) then it runs fine but once I populate it things get unstable.

Any tips or pointers to get me going on this?

I found the fix if you use moving pictures it some how stops all videos from playing in Mediaportal the solution was resolved by turning off "automatically acquire mediainfo details in movies" in the advanced settings in moving pictures I set it to false. Hope this helps. This was a consistent issue for me in RC2 I have not tried RC3 yet but have had this problem with other versions as well. I tried fresh installs and different skins it did not resolve the issue.

I was not even using MyMovies - it was disabled! But in keeping with the spirit of your post I enabled MyMovies and then located that parameter, set to False and closed the configuration... same result. Something about autoplay in the TV-Series log... I'll post logs when I get home. Oh, and I'm now RC4

Ouch - I think I did... in fact I'm not familiar with the word "movies" as I have always played TV via My-TV and any videos (.iso, .avi, .mkv, .m4v. etc.) via My-Video. I don't consider myself as playing a DVD or a movie, so I think you caught me! What I was referring to was the plug-in in the Config/Plug-in section and if that's Moving Pictures then you're right.

I've asked a few questions on another thread... maybe knowing answers will help me come up on the learning curve a bit quicker! Thanks for the help!

Have you tried turning subtitles off in the options in tv series plugin I have read that this can cause issues with playback.

I determined last night there is issue with a few of the .ts files I'm including. Whenever this is occurring I see this in my error.log
[ERROR][MPMain(1)]: MediaInfoWrapper.MediaInfoWrapper: unable to call external DLL - mediainfo (make sure 'MediaInfo.dll' is located in MP root dir.) Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
I've seen this on 3 shows all written by the 2nd tuner of my AVerMedia Duet and all on the local Fox network! My question is now - how is the stream recorded by MediaPortal such that the 'metadata' can be corrupt enough to cause mediainfo.exe (yes, I installed the GUI version to test these files) to say
Access violation at address 101757A6 in module 'MEDIAINFO.DLL', Write of address 00000020.
? Or is this an indication of an issue with my new tuner card? Oh and a side note - these 'corrupt' .ts files play fine inside WMP and MPC-HC - odd, eh?

On a possibly related issue, I am experiencing the "start timeshift buffer (play) over upon changing channels when 1st tuner is in use (recording)"

Here's more detail: I'm on MP 1.1 RC4 and had installed StreamedMP which gives a version of TV-Series. After reading about I'd verified I had mediainfo.dll and it was 7.31 so I replaced it w/7.33 from the SourceForge site. Then I realized TV-Series had a later release and I installed it overtop. I've also performed a "repair" of both StreamedMP and TV-Series from Win-7 Programs (Add/Remove) application.

What I'm seeing is that I can use MP-config, Plug-ins, Configure TV-Series to access this plug-in. I can perform an "update mediainfo" in which I get the error reported above about the protected memory in the TV-Series log (as well as the error.log I recall). The main MediaPortal application hangs at this same point - apparently it calls mediainfo and when it doesn't return MP gets hung up! Maybe I'm the only one having issue with mis-written mediainfo on my .ts files, but could a watchdog timer be set to avoid this crash/hang-up in the case the requested action never completes, or is the application toast when mediainfo gets stuck? (I ask this as the TV-Series 'app' doesn't get stuck as I explained above.)

I had the same issue- playing any video in MP would freeze/crash MP. Prior to 2.5.4, this would happen on occasion, but rarely. Once I installed 2.5.4 it happened on every file. I turned off all plugins except MP TV Series, and it happens. The only change I made was changing the "automatically acquire mediainfo details in movies" advanced setting in Moving Pictures and now it works. Moving Pictures isn't even enabled, but this setting seems to have an effect (shared configuration of MediaInfo settings?)
