I've been following this thread and would it be easier to find a site like http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/ with a API that could be hit to search for TV logo's instead of a bunch of different packs?

and how do you suppose to search logos if you know only channel name? including variations with trailing space, transcriptions like НТВ (russian letters) -> HTB (latin letters) while on Lyngsat they do phonetical transcription (for that case - NTV)? Mention also that lyngsat logos aren't standartized in image format, size and not always have transparent background.
and one example: there in one of the TV channels in Russia called "1st channel". Ans on different transponders and satellites there are variations of it:
Pervyi kanal
1TVRUS
Pervii kanal Rossia
Pervyi kanal +2 (shift on 2 hours)
Pervyi kanal +4 (shift on 4 hours)
Pervyi kanal +6 (shift on 6 hours)
while on lyngsat there is only logo for first name available.
Another example - german channel SWR. there are local variations such as SWR RP, SWR Rheinland-Pfalz, SWR BB, SWR Baden-Baden etc. Go try to find all variations of it on lyngsat!
and the last (but not least) reason - Lyngsat surely have logos for sat channels only. And MP supports also IPTV, DVB-T, DVB-C.
Actually - blame TV providers for their naming schemas for channels, but api on lyngsat won't help you to find proper logos in 75% of cases.

Ok I was just wondering. Im still new to this. I know if that website because that is where I found my logos for USA cable tv.

Here are my new logs and export of channels.

given: 578 channels in exported xml
* 128 channels with name "Unknown xxx"
* 83 channels from TEO provider (i assume DVB-T) that have "(TEO)" added to every channel name cannot be handled also - too specific for russian package.

578-128-83= 367 channels for which logo can potentially be found.

and

[2013-08-07 11:04:41,448] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - [LogoManager] Generated 404 logos for TV group "All Channels" from Русский набор using Simple design.

So in Log i see actually 5 errors in mapping for russian package (logo files don't exist), and the rest are probably Lithuania-specific channels (like "balticum-TV1000" or "LRT TELEVIZIJA") that cannot be found.

agree? what channels don't have logos now? those coming from DVB-T? actually you can create Lithuanian package for those

I will sit on the Lithuanian pack soon

Some channels from russian SATs is still missing, but will have to check manually. Overall picture is very good

I would suggest in the future to move from country based grouping. SAT/package and plus country local packages would be better.

while i agree with it in general, there are some things that prevent me to switch to that concept.
E.g. i live in Germany and receive satellites Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13.0E. So i don't care of local german packages as i don't have DVB-T. But i am surely interested on german and russian channels on those satellites. But who will maintain the package for Hotbird with 2000+ channels? and for Astra with 1500+ channels? i roughly watch 50 of these 3500 channels, and don't care about all italian, french, spanish, arabic and other channels. And i can maintain russian package with ~300 channels, and german with ~300 channels. But not 3k5 channels. So the biggest problem is big satellites - it is impossible to maintain full set of 1500+ channels.

@Arturas1976 btw closing sqlite database during 15 sconds in logs doesn't look normal. Maybe it is corrupted?
I suggest to test its integrity.
