    Hi,

what about the speed of your network ? Even if you use cat.5 if you have some speed or duplex problem in the middle it will need minutes to do anything. And once you have the conection, is the stream fluent ?

I had quite the same problem because I used a "special/light" XP distro... since I reinstalled with a fully licensed and standard XP all the problem were gone

yes, its odd the stream is completely fine and channel change is only a second tops! im running 100MB/s line with no problems on data transfer etc, windows 7 ultimate OS? any ways you think i could increase the speed for initial server connection?

I never had any experience with win7, sorry, but I've seen many posts talking about problem with client/server applications between XP and 7... is your client also using Seven ?

Do you use a firewall? An antivirus ?

What would be nice to know is if it is actually network or software related :

As a network guy I would tell you to use Wireshark on the server and see what happens but it may be a big job for a "small" issue...

You could also compare your "netstat -an" output from cmd to mine :
    h
As soon as I have the image on my client, te following lines appear (among others) :

    TCP 192.168.1.254:554 192.168.1.12:2411 TIME_WAIT
    TCP 192.168.1.254:554 192.168.1.12:2413 ESTABLISHED

254 is my server, 12 is my client

I also use cat5 cable and it takes max 5 sec to come.

    Good luck

Edit : if you use your TV server computer name in the client configuration, try to put the ip address, your issue could also be DNS-related

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! didnt think that the dns could be a issue, just readdressed my ip and used the xomputer name on my clients instead of the ipaddress and bang 1 second connection! you are indeed the man!
