I'm looking to upgrade my vga for my htpc (an agp card),
Is it worth to buy a 7600 passive only for vatching tv/videos with MP on a crt
using svideo connection?
I don't wont to spend so much for an agp card but I can find GV-N76G256D-RH
at 133€, it not so much, but do I get a better quality than a 6200?
And also, I think 6200 has a better quality than my ati 6200, is it right?
Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi,
I have "Asus GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 Silent (PCI-Express)" & I think it was worth to spend the money I did on it. Perfect picture on my 32" crt using composite out (it's my only option for this TV), tested some other ATI card (s) but couldn't get it to work good on my system.

How much you will spend it's up to you, but for me this was a good choice :)

    Regards

If the price difference is very minimal (or you just want to spend money), then buy the 7600. I have a 7600GS in mine and if I didn't have a case fan sitting and creating an airflow on top of the graphics card, I would be able to throw a barbeque with nice juice ribs on top of my case ;-)

That being said, the 7600 is a loooooot faster in 3D than the 6200. If you don't use 3D, you may choose the 6200, although I don't see any reason for doing that, 7600GS is also a low-budget chip.

My 7600GS is running YetiSports (girlfriend's favourite game) in 1366x768 with more or less 30-40 fps. Great game, especially after setting it up in MP menu ;-)

I would choose the 7600GS in a case with good airflow.
However, if the case has bad airflow, go with the 6200 due to the heat produced by the 7600 chip (primarily in load environments).

I've used a ati x1300 for a 32" lcd (not crt) and wasn't to thrilled with that one. Picture (no matter what decoder I used) was better with Hardware Accel off rather than on. (video-shadowing/echo'n effect) With Off HD content gave trouble ofcourse. Now using a passive 7300 and really pleased with it. IMHO the 7600 is a bit overkill when you're not gaming and 'just' using it on a crt with composit, but then again.. :)

    Regards,
    M.

    7600GS...

I'm using an XFX 7600GS XXX PCI-E (there is an AGP version though) passively cooled card, in a low airflow case (X-Qpack) and this card never goes over 60c.

Highly recommended, supports all features of Purevideo (expect for reverse telecine, available with 7600GT and up) and games pretty well if need be.

You can also get the regular version of the XFX 7600GS that isn't overclocked, for a decent price (around 120$ canadian).
