I have the following problem. A few days ago I updated my MP machine to W7 and MP 1.2.
At watching TV I found one annoying thing.
TV broadcasts that have 4:3 aspect ratio are stretched to my 16:9 tv.
That looks very weird. Can someone tell me a codec for W7/MP1.2 that cares for the aspect ratios and does NOT stretch until I use the "stretch" mode in the TV zooms?

This is not codec related i think. Do you have ViewModeSwitcher enabled in the plugin section maybe?

I use LAV codecs for everything, zoom set to normal in tv settings, but also use "intelligent frame correction" plugin with 4:3 aspect set to 14:9, but of course you could set to 4:3 to keep true aspect, I just like to fill screen a bit more ;)

I dont have a plugin active that affects the aspect ratios/cropping.
What are LAV Codecs? How can I set MP to do true 4:3?

Check your codec settings. I know for sure there was at least one codec doing that.
Had that issue too - but long time ago. So dont remember the codec, shouldnt ship with mepo today.

Please try to watch a 4:3 moviefile with WMP in fullscreen to check its not a GPU driver issue. ( Played around with the ccc? )

EDIT: Wasnt it the old MPV? I am sure it was one of the with mepo delivered codecs in my case. Just long time ago.

I´m using MP now for 5 years. The only codec that did that right was PowerDVD. But I cant install it anymore because i have only an old version that won´t run on W7.
I did not do any special setting on MP or codec things. It is a brand new installation.

What codec are you using now?

MS own codec delivered with Windows 7 doesnt strecht 4:3 media.
    LAV (cuvid) doesnt either.

Did you try to play a 4:3 ratio file with WMP?

The LAV Filters work perfect. No more stretched 4:3.
    Thanks man!
