    Hi everyone,

I had some strange things happen yesterday and since I tend to get a wee bit paranoid here is my question if anyone has seen this behaviour before ;)

As you can see in my profile I use an onboard HD3200 to connect via HDMI to my Sony LCD. That works quite well (except for the TV having to be on BEFORE the HTPC or the HDMI handshake won't work).

Yesterday while watching The Big Bang Theory the screen suddenly turned black (sound continued) and the TV showed it's status bar including a mode change from 1080p/24 to 1080p (which effectively is every other refresh rate on this TV). I couldn't get the display back - the HTPC still responded (which is normal - see handshake problem above). Restarting the PC brought back the picture.

Question is: How did this happen? It seems like the 2 lost their HDMI connection for a short time. Do you guys think this is rather HTPC (and especially driver-)related, TV-set related (I had an LG before which showed very strange behaviour before breaking completely)?

I recently updated the Catalyst drivers (have been using them for a while without problems though) and SAF (no problems there before either).

    Thanks

    Taalas

I had a similar issue (it constantly switched from Monitor to TV and lost HDMI connection).

    Just follow this instructions: click

    Link to MonInfo program: click

You must create an EDID INF override file. It looks complicated, but it's not that hard to do.
Or either buy a DVI Doctor, that does the same thing.
