Lost picture in HD channels (2 Viewers)

Hi,
Do not expect help when not using proper codecs installation, some are able to use ffdshow, coreavc etc for watching HD channels, but you need a powerful comp for some of them which uses SW instead of HW on gpu......
The only codecs working good here is PDVD 8 & ffdshow for audio, others might have tested & found other codecs

I am not sure that my codec config is wrong.

Have you every tried to get HD without PDVD?

I assume that MP does not use Haali Media Splitter as a DS Splitter Filter. It uses something else...
I already mentioned that the timeshift file was playable without MP. If i use graphedit, i can see that Haali is used to splitt the TS-stream from timeshift file. .... So if this works.. what Splitter does MP use?

We are using our own TS splitter (TsReader.ax) as haali doesnt provide all features that we need (for example it doesnt know anything about DVB subtitles).

Remember it only worked the moment i installed PDVD... even if i did not use the PDVD H264 codec within the MP config. Just by installing PDVD and leaving the MP config as it was before with MPC H264 codec for TV!

It might be that haali manages to connect to the video decoder, but TsReader doesnt.

When MP fails to build the graph by the filters user has set it most likely tries to find a suitable codecs (or actually directshow does that). Mosat likely that caused the Cyberlink's codec to be used even when it was not selected in the config.

It seems that you are perfectly right.

It tested it on another machine without MP.
The TS splitter on this machine is from Nero (NeSplitter.ax) (NO Haali installed). It behaves just like the TsReader from MP.

First step: The only H264 codec on this machine was from MPC
Result: Graphedit rendered the timeshift file correct BUT if you play it within graphedit you get only sound and the picture is just black (exactly the same effect as with MP)

Second step: Installed PDVD so that i got two H264 codecs on the machine (MPC was prefered codec)
Result: same graph as above and same effect - no picture but sound

Third step: unregistered MPC H264 codec so that i only got the PDVD H264 left
Result: Graphedit rendered the timeshift as expected. But now i got a picture and sound!!

So my conclusion is the the Nero Splitter behaves like the TsReader, both do not show a picture with MPC H264 codec (only Haali does) - means even if i set the MPC H264 codec in MP config as prefered codec for HDTV, MP will used PDVD H264 codec.

What now, is this a bug? I think TsReader should (like Haali) be able to use the free MPC-H264 codec.
The MPC graph shows the even Nero found the MPC codec for H264 usable and the graph was rendered correctly but with black picture.

Could you check what video encoding the .ts file is using for video? It might be some specific encoding format that causes the issue you are seeing.

seems to be a limitation of the MPC Codec:

Well, there is a problem between MP internal TS splitter and MPC-HC decoder, look here:

Solution? Rename your *.ts files to MKV or MP4 - this will disable internal ts splitter, and Haali doo the
work.
No solution for HDTV yet...

Haali shows that its MPEG2 video stream. Do you have any MPEG2 decoder configured? I would assume that MPC HD codec is not able to decode MPEG2 video at all (as its MPV's job) and that filter might have higher merit than any other MPEG2 codec so the graph building choses wrong video codec (as it should chose MPEG2 codec).

...just a guess

EDIT: But It cannot be that if it works with haali... sorry, but I have currently no clue why its not working with TsReader.
