I haven't had any time to play with this software but I was wondering if there is a way to add some automation macros.

For example:

A button to watch a DVD that does the following steps:

1) Dim lights (X10)
2) Set the audio receiver to DVD input
3) play movie

When pause is hit:

1) turn lights on
2) pause movie

etc...

I can do all this with my Harmony remote so I was wondering if I can do it with my Microsoft MCE keyboard and Media Portal.

It's possible to some extent with the HiP replacement driver and software suite, i don't have a link handy, but what i've done is.....

    Enter button on remote:

First Press switches amp to correct input(3 commands)

    Second Press Starts Media Portal.

It's all a matter of programming the IR blasters to respond to the commands that you have made it learn from your various remotes, their range is quite small so you'll probably want some way to boost that.

Although i'm no electronics expert, this circuit would do the job.

Theres also a guide floating around here to get Hip running how you want, just bear in mind it won't work with the keymapping addition to MP RC4. Unless i'm doing something wrong.
