Mail notification application (1 Viewer)

I have searched this forum for some sort of mail notification. I have tried the mp "mail tool" but that didn't work for me. All I need is some sort of popup (or perhaps a static icon in the lower right corner) that say that I have new mail in my imap-mailbox. If I have a new mail I can start my other computer and read and reply to that mail. So it doesn't need to be fancy at all!!!

So my question is; do you know an external application that can solve this for me? Or is it perhaps possible using an MP-plugin???

I thought the MP plugin should handle this as well.
It checks your nominated mail box and sets an Icon if you have mail.

I don't use it myself and I understand it's not very easy to actually read your mail with the plugin but this part should work. Or am I wrong? It's been known to happen...
