Main Menu Program Launch (1 Viewer)

Is there a way that I can launch an external program straight from the main menu. I have looked at the programs plugin and set it up but its hard to get to when using a remote. The best way that I see to shorten the process is just making a main menu item that launches the exe. I hope this can be done.

I'd also like to do this. I want to be able to launch Mame32 but I dont need MP to show me a list of the roms; I just want to be able to start the damn program with one simple click. With MCE all I had to do is place a shortcut in the Media Center Apps folder on the start menu. Is there really no way to do this with Media Portal?
