Mame not finding ROMS within MediaPortal (1 Viewer)

Mame is not working when launched within MediaPortal.

The game loading fails, claiming that rom files were not found, showing the classical Mame error screen with the list of the files not found in the main ZIP rom file.

This is strange as from DOS command line, Mame works fine, loading the roms I set in the c:\program files\Mame\ROM folder.

In the MyPrograms plugins settings, I kept configuration as much simple I could. As from DOS the simple "mame romname.zip" works fine, I also kept no arguments in MyProgram settings.

The roms are correctly recognized in the "File" tab of MyProgram settings, and also correctly listed in the MediaPortal GUI when accessing MyPrograms > Mame.


Any idea about this? Thanks.

But....

I noticed that when on the "my programs" screen, after selecting Mame entries, if i right click I can select from menu "Switch to view", the "My Files" view.... Then, the list show correctly and I can launch the games! Which is basically the only thing I need....
But big big problem now: the "My File" view is not saved, so after restarting MediaPortal the "MyFile" view is lost



I'm getting a serious headache with this plugin



Please please help!!! How can I set the "My Files" view as default?

Hey Thank you very very much level20peon!

Sometimes coming back to start is the best way. I totally reinstalled MP, applied again your work around, and now it's working.

But I've got just a slighlty different issue now.... The -skip_gameinfo argument prevets games to load...

I don't understand. If I launch, for example, mame batman.wip -skip_gameinfo from DOS, it works like a charm.
If I put -skip_gameinfo in arguments field from My Program configuration, the game doesn't start at all (nor from MP, nor from "Laucnh" button in configuration)

Any idea about this?

Ok I've got it!

The -skip_gameinfo is not working because it was disabled in the MAME version I'm using.

Now I switched to the original MAME for Windows instead of Mame32.

Everything is working now, at least I can launch mame games and play them from MediaPortal.
