Managing multiple clients so that they look and do the same things (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

I have 5 MP clients that im trying to manage so they all have the same skin, logos, plugins etc. but its a pain

I wish there was a tool where you could create your own favourites MP template and just add/execute that after installing a new client so that it instantly looks the same as my other clients and have the same plugins, music database, movies database, my tv series database, moving pictures setup and so on.

Maybe there is a way to do all this by just copying certain folders from your favorurite setup to a new machine?

Any ideas?

Contains all databases,skins,thumbnails

The plugins are better just installed but just make a folder iwth all the plugins you use and copy it with the other folder to the clients and install them all to make sure there all the same versions.

I was thinking about it now that all my clients run same Windows 7, same remote, etc...

I have not tried it but maybe it would be a good idea to use a program such as Goodsync.
i use it for my work and personal files to sync between my server, and 2 laptops.

basically I was thinking of creating a schedule that synchronizes the above folder mentioned, between the clients. you can set it to sync every x minutes, or when the clients wakes up etc...

dont know if this will work, if i can i will try it but no way soon.

I never tried myself, but backupsettings might do what you want - so create a "referenceclient", backup all settings and load them on your other clients.
If you should give this a try, please give feedback, if it works as expected (or wished).

Problem with that is, you can only use one client at the same time. Databases are likely to corrupt of you access them from two clients at the same time.

but yeah, ive used it for some time, when there was no risk of more than one client being used at the same time

I normally just get 1 machine set up how I like, install MP on the others and then just copy everything from the main machine to the others, never had a problem doing it that way. I just copy everything from the dirs in users and program files.
