I'm having some questions about mapping buttons in Mediaportal and control external devices with it. Hope it is possible what I want, and If anywone wants to explain how to make it work.

I want to control Mediaportal and my hardware just with one Remote Control and a Gamepad (games)...

Now I'm using:

-- Philips Remote from TV ( to turn on/off and switch to AV-signal)
-- Pioneer Remote from Amplifier (to switch /on/off and volume)
-- MS MCE Keyboard ( to press ALT+F4 to close game after running it from Mediaportal)
-- MS MCE Remote ( for all the other functions)
-- I also own the official iR-module to control external devices that came with the MCE-remote.

What I want is that I can press a button on the MCE-remote to turn the TV and amplifier on and put the TV to the correct AV-input.

Also when i press volume button on MCE remote, the volume of my amplifier must be changed...
I need a button on the remote that produces ALT-F4 or something, so that the game will be killed. Now I only need the stupid Keyboard for that.

I always wake up the HTPC from S3-standby with the MCE-remote. Would be really great if the TV and amplifier also turn on at starting the HTPC.

Is it possible what i want ? Does somebody know how ?

Thanks in advance !

Hi DJ,

I'm trying to start an remote control project aswell. I noticed your post from the beginning of this year and I was curious if you completed your project.

I'm looking at several options such as IRtrans (=expensive) and M-Play Blast form VL System (bit cheaper and looks nice). I want to wakeup my HTPC ánd will be able to skip/previous songs from my musicdatabase with the same remote control. I prefere an existing remote control (from my TV or DVD recorder) instead of an extra one on the table.

Some links:

Hi

Looks like you my be able to do most of what you want with MCE Replacement Plugin (control external devices). Also your MCE remote can learn the volume and power buttons from your amplifier (maybe).

Hope this helps.
