hi there.

i´m here: mediaportal setup, movies, movie folders

is it possible to map different directories (from my harddrives) into one movie folder?

e.g. i have movies in c:/movies, d:/movies f:/movies ... now i want all these folders mapped into the mp movie folder called e.g. "MOVIES" , so i see all the files from the different discs in this folder and dont have to browse different movie folders...

hope you understand what i mean

thank you.

i would use a program like AVI List to create play lists of all the movies. then drop them all into a central folder on the htpc's drive.

would take very little room. and let you have all the movies link edin one location.

Not sure on this, but if you tell MP to search in all those places all the movies should show up. You just have to view them in some other way than Shares, You would use like Genre, or titles, or something like that.
I hope this helps

Thanks Dustin

    Using the MP Movie Database

As lukky quoted, you can have multiple folders in the folders section. You then complete a scan, which goes off to IMDB and gets all the coverart, descriptions, actors, etc. Once this is complete, going into the My Videos section of MP, change the view to Titles. This will show all the movies that have been found by the scan. Next time you go into My Videos, the view will be Title's by default.

leaving the view as shares displays all the folders listed in the configuration. I only use the shares view when I add another movie to the collection. I find it on the share I placed it in and then press F3 on the keyboard and it will then add it to the Database. Then I switch back to the Titles view....

MP really shouldnt be responsible for how you organized your movie collection when you think about it. If you've placed content across different volumes, then the best method is to us the underlying OS to manage the physical location of your content and let MP simply organize and display the data afterwards.

Junctions really are your best best at this point - or reorganizing your movie content to be in the same volume.

Why not? If you don't have raid and have multiple disks, you wind up with your movies spread across more than one share or disk. The MySeries plugin can scan more than one disk or share and still list them in one view. It shouldn't be so hard to implement it in MyMovies (for someone who knows what he's doing).
