Is there anyway of forcing an update of mapped network drives when entering media portal, I have an issue that even when the network computers are turned on before the HTPC and MP, MP will not refresh the listing (just shows up arrow), the mapped drives are entered into the database via setup, and show under MP but will not show the files contained, they "will" show but can take up to 15mins of going into and out of MP before they show the files. I can exit MP and see and play each file in explorer but when I go back into MP the listing still will not show (just shows up arrow), all of a sudden it will update and show all the files on the mapped drive, is there a hot key or a forced refresh that can be used to update the listing's even if the servers are turned on after starting MP.

thanks

hmmm sounds a little strange, you could perhaps trying the path in MP configuration as say \\192.168.0.4\d\movies instead of mapping it to that location perhaps? not sure if that would work or not , i use mappings

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing - but to access network drives from within MP after restarting the Media Center PC, I need to go in to them through My Computer.

This seems to let Windows know that they ARE actually there, and then Media Portal is able to access them. From memory some guy wrote a script that would run on startup and automate the process.

I'm a newbie to MP, but I have a suggestion. You could try a logon script. I've done this with success. There's more than one way to go about it so you may want to Google the subject for more info. Anyway, there's a good old DOS command that can create and remove mapped drives:

    net use d: \\192.168.0.4\d\movies /user:myusername password

This creates a map to d: that usually works quite nicely. You can use several of these commands in a batch file that runs at logon.

However, the problem you describe doesn't really sound like a problem with the drive mappings. It sounds like a network problem--like your MP box is having trouble resolving the address to the other computer. I'd look for a conflict. Do you have any multi-homed computers? Do you use static or dynamic IPs? Are you using UNC paths with NETBIOS name resolution? Static IPs and a tweak of the hosts and lmhosts files can speed things up quite a bit. There's also a way to tweak NIC's to avoid bandwidth throttling, but I'd have to look that one up. A little information about your network configuration would be helpful.
