I just finished getting Media Portal installed, I now have both my OTA and QAM channels playing back in the My TV Plugin, however the problem is now getting the Guide to work correctly.

    Problems:
    1. Since I have 2 tuners, that means I need parts from the OTA and Part for the Cable guides at Zap2It, so far I can only get 1 of the 2 guides at a time in xmltv.
    2. The names from XMLTV are not what I want to use, so I need to remap them.
    3. There are multiple copies of NBC, CBS ..., so I need them all to show the listing, ie map 1 guide channel to multiple tuner channels

    Thanks for your assistance,
    ERIC

Think I fixed it, though in a very messy way:

    1. Since I have 2 tuners, that means I need parts from the OTA and Part for the Cable guides at Zap2It, so far I can only get 1 of the 2 guides at a time in xmltv.
XMLTV cannot do this so instead get 2 seperate listings and combine using tv_cat

    2. The names from XMLTV are not what I want to use, so I need to remap them.
XMLTV can not do this, so I wrote a nice perl script to do this for me
    3. There are multiple copies of NBC, CBS ..., so I need them all to show the listing, ie map 1 guide channel to multiple tuner channels
Still working on this as I will need yet another set of listings to get this data

So what does my script do, well basically this is a hash at the top that conatins a list of all XML channels and what they should be mapped to for Media Portal
Second I have sets of listings so I get the identifiers from the TvGuide.xml and use them to locate were to make replacements. Third I check that all channels have a mapping, if not I warn. Fourth since I have more than 1 channel whose ID remained the same between listings I rename it in 1 of the 2 listings bwfore merging. Forth I make the required replacements in the merged file. Fith I copy over the TvGuide.xml file manually.

So it does work, but as I said it is not easy, though hopefully this file will help somebody else figure out how to do it, got question post here,

wow. i'm pretty surprised that MP or XMLTV or something doesn't have support for this. doesn't anyone else get different channels from different tuners?

i have an HVR-1600 and the channels are different over analog than ATSC.

seriously. I'm in exactly this boat, I got the 1600 so I could series record hd network shows over qam... being able to map these channels to their corresponding networks in the guide would be faboo. As far as I can tell schedules direct / xmltv doesn't have an EPG for my clear qam channels, so I need to bind them to their epg channels manually.
