since update from mp1.2rc to mp1.2final, i have a massive standbyproblem.
everytime if the htpc resumes from standby i get the errror message:"no signal".
i have nothing changed beside update from 1.2rc to 1.2final.
all drivers are the same!
maybe it has something today with this issue:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/bugreports-74/tvservice-prevent-energy-save-mode-100602/
but this is only speculation.

if i turn off the tv-server (net stop tvservice) before the system goes into standby then i don t get this no signal message and live tv is working. so my suggestion is that something has to be changed on the tv-server from 1.2rc to 1.2final that caused that.
so the only workaround what seems to work, is to shut the tv-server down, before goeing into standby (s3).
i tried therefore also standby-handler with this option.
it seems to work, but i am still not sure.
have to make further tests.
hope this problem can be solved without useing additional tools like standby handler.
if you have to evertime compensate software-bugs with aditional tools, then you have at the end of what we germans call "flickenteppich" (sorry i don t know the word for that in english) and this isn t very nice...
hope anyone can help here.

thx in advance

Re: massive standby problem with 1.2final! no signal

    Hi parkuhr

There were *zero* changes in TV Server function logic between 1.2.0rc and final. The only thing that changed was updated tuning details and grabber scripts. For that reason I find it difficult to believe that a bug has been introduced in TV Server between RC and final. In the single test case that I see in your logs it looks like you and the EPG grabber were fighting for control over your tuners. Is this really happening all the time, or did it only happen once?

this was also only a speculation. but something must be responsibly for that.
i didn t change anything on the system. i only updatet...

the single test case that I see in your logs

well, i have the spoken issue since yesterday all the time. i have testet more then once, becouse to be sure a bug report is necesary.
the test scenario was only for providing logs. i can do it all the time and nothing will change: i everytime get the no signal message if the system resumes from stanbdy.

mediaportal was startet in debug-mode with no plugins and only the basics.
so i don t know why this grabber-thing is the case.

i can t anwer that becouse with 1.2rc and the versions before, there was no reason for looking into the logs.
i didn t had this no signal-problem bevor.
all i can say is that i have this problem since updateing from 1.2rc to 1.2final.
    and btw:
since 1.2rc you can t update the grabbers for movie database. an errror occurs and there are no grabbers you can select.
but i don t know if this is relevant for the problem

    greetings

Re: massive standby problem with 1.2final! no signal

Could it be that your TV card isnt initialising quick enough before MP start up? Whats happens if you set MP client up to hold off for an extra few seconds in MPconfig -> Power settings?

No idea why it would be any different in going from 1.2RC to 1.2final but its worth a go.

Indeed. The situation that I saw in the logs would only happen by chance, so it is quite possible that you have not seen it before now, but it still could have happened.

I everytime get the no signal message if the system resumes from stanbdy.
Try to use "stop card" mode rather than "pause card" mode ("when card enters idle state..." - wiki).

The EPG grabbing is a TV Server function (wiki).

thx to both of you for the feedback!

its a good feeling to know not to stand in rain as enduser;)

Could it be that your TV card isnt initialising quick enough before MP start up?

should not, but you never know. in the past it was known, that this card need a faster wakeup-intervall or something.
so i followed this guide and had no problems till now. its long ago from now.
here are the instrcutions i used: Problem nach S3 - Kein Signal mehr vorhanden. - MCE-Community.de
    (thread 20)

Whats happens if you set MP client up to hold off for an extra few seconds in MPconfig -> Power settings?

allready tried this. i set the intervall up to 10 secounds. problem still exists.

The situation that I saw in the logs would only happen by chance, so it is quite possible that you have not seen it before now, but it still could have happened.

i have no doubt. i beliefe you that.

thank you for this hint. it seems to work with this, but sometimes, mediaportal need a little bit longer to get ready if the system resumes from standby. but i am still in testing state that i can be sure, that the problem is really solved.
have to make some further, deeper tests.
    till now it looks good:)

    best regards

    update:

with the hint from mm1352000, the s3-problem seem to be solved. thx again.
the only thing what i not understund is:
i never needed this option before.
even with 1.2rc not. if nothing has been changed in tv-server, why i need it now?
but its not so important. the most important for me is that it works now.

    best regards
