Windows Version: Vista

Hi everyone,

I have recently installed MediaPortal 1, RC2 (without TV server, I don't have a tv tuner). I am only using media portal for watching avi's/dvd's etc...

It's going really well, the only thing which is bugging me so badly is the volume control.

When I press the volume up/down buttons on my remote, I want this to change the master volume in windows vista, not the MP application volume (which it is currently doing). In the config, I have the volume set to Vista / Wave. I have tried every form of combination available to try and get it to work. So does anyone know how to get it to adjust the master volume?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

It is, open MP Configuration, choose Advanced mode (I think this is needed) and open the General section, select Volume and then choose Vista and Master volume amongst the options.

I did just this last night and it seems to work.

Hi, That doesn't work for me, it functions exactly the same as if I had it on wave - it just lowers the MP volume...

thanks for your suggestion though.

I also have this problem.
In configuration I set Scale to Vista and Control to Master Volume. But still, mediaportal only change it's own volume and not the Master volume. This is a huge issue for me.

I'm not sure whay that is such an issue but it is the same way as it works on mine. as a workaround can you re-map your remotes volume up and volume down buttons th the volume up and down keys (not the = and - that mediaportl uses but the multimedia keys)? that way the master volume would be changed but you would not get the volume bar showing in mediaportal.
