the new OSD is aswome. I love it. And MCE16x9 is probably the only skin that supports so much plugins.

Not many skins out there that from a default installation u got all your plugins working perfectly fine.

I belive people understamate it cause of the basic Home Screen and Normal Screen Graphic icons. If Boilermaker finds some extra time and makes some nice looking icons for the home screen the skin will draw much more attention.

ocram, did you like the other osds better, or would you have like have seen changes made differently? Don't worry, i'm not offended if people don't like what i've done, just looking for suggestions on how to improve things.

I agree with this point, but i don't want this skin to rely too much on eye candy. Its strength is its simplicity, use of space and plugin support. And for a skin that uses almost no xml from default skins, its fairly bug free. A skin that's too flashy is one people will get tired of quickly.

That all being said, if anybody has some suggestions on what to use for images on the home, plugin and basic home screen, they are welcome. Right now i'm concentrating on testing and bug fixing for .2.1.0, then making an installer for it. Graphics can be added at any time.

yes I like the OSD's like in the original realease for MP 0.2.0.4, the fact that the OSD's don't look like boxes, is what I like and the new OSD's are just boxes with a blue border.

They are not ugly, but love the old ones better

not a problem, honesty is a good thing. If i can find a way to work it so i can include a choice between both osds in the installer, i will do so.

I'm considering making a change in fonts from Arial to Lucida sans. It should be installed by default with windows xp, i haven't installed any fonts and its on my htpc. Since it's included with xp, i don't think there are any copyright problems, but if someone knows otherwise, please post a comment. Some screen shots below:

yes Lucida sans are part of the winXP install. I check it my self.

They look better and different than the standar Arial that you see everywhere nowdays.

Boilermaker, I love your skin better then others for many reasons, but there is one thing that is missing for me, it's unable to display non-latin or mixed char file names, while Blue two skin displays them just fine, I wonder if it's possible to include this feature in later release?

belozeroff, could you tell me a little more about the problem, like how/where you would need to display those characters? When i first read your post, i thought you could be using a language other than English. I do some testing in German, not because i understand even a word of it, just to make sure text fits in the spaces i've left for them, and that everything is aligned properly. I've tried a few other languages, and to be honest, if there is something displaying improperly, i wouldn't know.

One question, did you try the skin before the font change? The difference that's most likely to be the problem is that the font i've chosen doesn't support those characters. I'd hate to have to go back to arial, changing fonts has freshened the skin up some.

I can make an installation option gives you a choice of fonts if arial displays properly. If you want to test arial font, open up fonts.xml in the ../Mediaportal/skin/mce1280x720 directory and replace "lucida sans" with "arial". Erase all the files in the fonts directory in the skin (not the Fonts directory in Windows), and restart mp. Make sure to back up your fonts.xml so you can just paste the copy back in. You'll also have to erase the files in fonts directory again. If this solves your problem, in the final release later this month i'll include an option for the arial font.
