MCE remote and Star Trek menu problems (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I just upgraded from MP 0.2.3.0 to MP 1.0.0 RC2, and am now having flaky problems with my Star Trek Voyager DVD menus. The upgrade was a "clean install". I use the MCE remote on Vista SP1, and when I select items on the menus, the selection "jumps" to something else. For example, when I select the first episode, it jumps to the second one and plays that one. I've gone in and looked at the MCE remote settings, and see no problems there. All other DVD menus work fine, only the Star Trek Voyager ones are flaky now. This worked fine in MP 0.2.3.0. I also tried upgrading to RC3 to see if that fixed the issue, but it did not.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

See if you can get a copy of powerdvd7 (free with pc or dvd drives, so may be on that utilities disk you have hidden away) and select those as navigator\mpeg codec in dvd config, let us know if that fixes it.

I tried your suggestion, and I still had the same problem. I did go in to see if I could try something else, and I went into DirectShow filter control's Video Renderer setting and changed the setting from "VRM9" to the experimental EVR setting, and that actually fixed the problem. I went back and changed it back to VRM9 just to make sure, and the problem came back. I then went back to EVR and all is well, so that seem to be the thing that corrected the problem. I'm not sure why this fixed the problem, but maybe this will give you a clue to why this problem manifested and how to address it.

It should also be noted that these DVDs have been ripped to hard drives, so I'm unsure if the DVD settings affected this. I do go into "movies" and changed the "Movie Player" settings to PowerDVD 8 (Cyberlink) but that still didn't affect it.

PowerDVD8 has the same problems, MP cannot use its navigator, it will not let you select it under the navigator tab, the only version you can do this is PDVD7.

Hi again,

I'm using PowerDVD 8 so I can watch Blu Ray, so 7 wasn't an option at the time (I think version 7 is offering Blu Ray support now). However, now that I'm using EVR instead of VRM9, the problem has disappeared. I wonder why that's the case? Is the DVD navigation different in some way? I know EVR is experimental, but I've had no problems with it thus far. I will keep you posted.

Flipping heck, evr is becoming the wonder drug for xp, seems to be fixing a few things broken in xp with vmr9.

Yep, no full Blu-Ray support in 7, newer Blu-ray's will not work correctly, only in 8.

Hey again,

I'm finding that out with PowerDVD 8..I had to update even that to play the latest Indiana Jones movie!

I am using Vista, not XP, so am wondering if that makes a difference with EVR..

I'm attaching all of my log files in case you want to look through them..maybe there's a clue as to why this is happening..

Vista installations will need Aero enabled + EVR automatically chosen in MP config in RC4, and will be set as default.

MP's built in DVD Navigator is broken, bits don't work as expected (basics are fine, seems to be menu's mainly), we know about these, it's just finding someone to fix or even if its even possible (drm).

Thanks for the thought of the logs, unfortunately no use as issue known , these's only 2 navigators that will work, M$ and PDVD7, the rest have locked there software out including PDVD8.

I understand now..for me, EVR worked, but hopefully a permanent solution can be found..sounds like you're on it!

Great job on this release..I look forward to future releases, but am enjoying RC2 just fine.
