MCE Remote Mapping (1 Viewer)

I have an HP (hewlett packard) MCE Remote, and some of the buttons don't seem to do anything in MP.

I'm guessing its because they haven't been mapped to do anything. I'm wondering if anyone has mapped some functions with this remote. If so is it possible to upload a file of your settings I could copy to my media portal folder and use those - OR will I have to map each button that I want to use?

BTW - I should mention I'm using Windows XP with SP2/3 (not sure which).

The main reason for this is that I want to use the Pause and Stop functions when watching movies, without having to hit CLEAR, go to the top bar and select stop from there.

Also if anyone knows how to get the menu you get when you right click by using the MCE remote above, that would be great.

I also have this remote, latest Ir server work but if you start mce ir suite stop working, this is an RC6 remote.
Best tip i can give you, use girder with MCERemote.dll by TONY TOPAZ.
MceIr.Dll does not work with this remote.

Or intelliremote, eventghost( these 2 have mce dll built in.

Hip does not on Win7, only Girder 3-5, Intelliremote BETA( found on intelliremote forum), or eventghost latest.

MceIr.Dll does not work with this remote.

Im can give both my archive with girder, intelliremote, plugins of mce, etc to test.

i have this remote for over1 month, but i read a lot in this time.

I do not know why MceIR.dll does not work on my remote, it work but not all the buttons, some of them.

I even have some MceIR.dll modded to work with Girder 4, etc, + all mceir.dll version.

I tried today to install mediaportal, after install when i want to make my settings it freeze over and over.

It's not ok on my setup in WIn7, uninstall, hope a new fix appear .

If you could post those DLL's to the forum so I can test them that would be great. I have much the same problem as GIXXER. Some buttons work, but most do not. I have feeling it's the driver for Media portal, because the remote works fine in Windows Media Player, and just windows in general.

My archive was 400mb, cut to 40mb, with the important dll and software.

For users who want a Mce remote very cheap( does not look like Mce remote), buy Leadtek tuner, analog one, second hand, it has an remote that work by default in Mce, and with an romanian software you could make working in any program. Old leadtek remote plugin does not work with latest tuners.

Some users report that with Mce remote, Girder 4 and HID plugin are ok in Vista and Win7, unfortunelly i have Girder 5, i could not test that, Hid plugin for Girder install only if found Girder 4 directory.

Well it worked to some degree - Play, Skip, Fast Forward and Stop all work - but I can't get the context menu to show - I've tried mapping it everywhere, still no success. To make sure we are on the same page, I mean the menu that comes up when you right click on a music folder or when you right click on a movie file or while the movie playing. The one that lets you select "Add to playlist" or "Grab Coverart" "Scan" or "Artist Info".

Any Ideas?

Sorry, i do not use Mediaportal, after install when i go to options menu, freeze appear over and over if i click on any options.

You tested all the plugins?

Some are for Girder 4, modded by some users, some for Eventghost, a mooded one, etc.

I found an user who make an review with HP remote and MCeIR.dll, back in 2006. But i could not make use of this plugin.

Maybe this remote has many version.

Mine is with teletext buttons near POWER, MENU DVD, it has teletext button + 4 more teletext options, red,blue,green,yellow.

AND with Girder 4 install it came HID PLUGIN, it work with the remote but not all the buttons, just like with plugin MCeIR.dll.

In archive post here there are a new HID PLUGIn for GIRDER, same situation.

Still MCeplugin.dll is the best, but i was wrong, MCEplugin.dll by Tony Topaz it's not from Mediaportal Download... i found it somewhere.....

I had a HP remote (pic below) and I had no trouble using it under vista (sp1/sp2). Usage is out-of-the-box with MePo, you just have to connect the USB receiver, disable the MediaCenter services and install MPTray... After that, the green button "calls" MePo, and all the other buttons works as they should
