Greeting everyone,

This is my problem... MP doesn't recognize cursor, number and ok buttons on my MCE remote, all other buttons work. Before this installation I had MP 0.2.3.0 and Windows XP SP2 and everything worked fine (as far as I remember). Is this MP related issue or SP3 related issue? Does anyone else have this problem?

P.S. In EventGhost all problematic buttons work fine. I Notepad they don't.

Can you be more explicit, are you using the ehome driver, with it's default settings or using eventghost to translate keypresses.

I use eHome drivers. They worked fine with MP before and even now special buttons (record, etc) work fine. I have problems with normal ones (cursor, ok, numbers, volume and similar). They don't work in MP or Notepad (I think they worked in it before). I tried EventGhost with eHome driver and it recognizes all buttons pressed.

Go into Device manager, uninstall the ehome driver (keeping ir receiver plugged in) once uninstalled remove receiver usb plug, wait 30 seconds and reinstall.

    Any change.

No change. All those buttons that shoulb be recognized as keyboard input (cursors, ok, numbers, volume, clear and enter) are not working. Is there some option in MP that I forgot to enable? Or is ths related to Windows? I should be able to use numeric part of remote in Notepad and other programs, right? Yet I can't. I'll try inistalling drivers, reseting my PC and installing then again and then I'll get back to you.

I'm on SP3 and have no problems with the MCE remote. Doesn't sound like a SP3 issue, I guess it's local to your PC. Which probably isn't much help to you but at least it proves it's not SP3.

Yep, should be able to do above, repeat my answer above, but reboot before inserting the usb receiver.

Did some testing on other PCs both with SP2 and SP3 and everything worked fine. It seems to be some issue specific to my current PC. Though luck :-( Thanks for help anyway.

If you want to check what keystrokes are being sent by the remote I knocked up this little program to do it. It's a 10-minute wonder so don't pick on the interface.

I suspect some of the non-genuine MCE remotes aren't quite right in the keycodes taht get sent (mine sends backspace for BACK, when the equivalent function on the keyboard is ESC).
