If you want to check what keystrokes are being sent by the remote I knocked up this little program to do it. It's a 10-minute wonder so don't pick on the interface.

I suspect some of the non-genuine MCE remotes aren't quite right in the keycodes taht get sent (mine sends backspace for BACK, when the equivalent function on the keyboard is ESC).

Thanks for the program but the thing is that for some unknow reason my os doesn't recognize hid part of the remote (it is original ms remote). I guess it could be some driver issue or something.

Could you please fill in "My system" in User CP or list yor (relevant) hardware here? Are you using standard MCE remote AND receiver?

You could (should!) give IR Server Suite a try :)

Sorry about my system... It took some time to find how to enable it.

Yes I'm using original remote & receiver and as far as I can tell this issue is specific to my configuration rather than global. As I said i tried remote on other PC with Windows XP Professional SP2 (and later with SP3 update) and it worked fine. I guess there is some driver issue. Maybe with my keyboard drivers or something. Because Windows do not recognize those buttons that should be recognized as standard keyboard buttons. I'll try to hunt down the issue next month and for now I'll use EventGhost to emulate those buttons not working out of the box.

Glad you did that, chances are if one thing was corrupt then more was lurking, waiting to show.

might sound silly but try this:
Uninstall the device from device manager
    Shut down the PC
Reboot with the sensor in a different USB port
The PC should redetect on reboot...

I have had this on a couple of PCs...
