I have an HTPC box setup as a single seat installation that works great and has been working great for about a year and a half. I've purchased a new laptop and I'm setting it up as a client so that I can watch TV through media portal in other rooms. Everything is working properly, except for my media center remote. I have tried 3 remotes and they all have the same functional flaw. A portion of the buttons work (up, down, volume up, volume down, pause etc), however several buttons do not work (green button aka home, guide, live tv etc). I have configured media portal to use the MCE remote and all other remotes are deselected. When media portal IS NOT running, the remotes function properly (green button launches windows media center, all buttons work properly in media center). Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply PD. Yep, one is genuine, one is third party, one is the mini remote that came with my HP PC. Tried all three, no luck, same behavior with all of them.

Alrighty, it's a genuine remote, but I was using the receiver built into my laptop which was the problem. I plugged in the receiver for the MCE remote, the drivers were installed and as long as I use that receiver the remote works just fine. So, I only have the one receiver and that's for my HTPC, for my laptop, i'd like to use the receiver built into the laptop. Safe to assume I'll have to configure it as a general HID? Is there any documentation on configuring a general HID, or does anyone know of any software that'll display the "keys" that are being received by the laptop when i press buttons on the remote (to help with mapping)? Thanks!
