Can I install MediaPortal on 1 pc (directly attached to HDTV and networked) and have it access media files on a separate PC located elsewhere on the same network?

Is There a client and server that must be installed separately to do this? I haven't started the installation yet.

AW: Media files on 2nd PC?

    well yes and no,

MP consists of two parts: a client and a TV-Server which can (but do not have to be) be on the same box.
In order to stream your media files like pictures/movies/music you just need to configure your shares in the client.

In my case I have a NAS in my basement besides the TV-Serverbox (that streams the TV-signal to my clients all over the house). The NAS contains all my media (well most of them)... :)
Just give it a quick try, setup is quite straightforward...

Trying to install MP for the first time, I get the error that an Internet connection is not available!! I'm on the net now. I made an exception in the firewall to allow MP, but no go. Any Clues?
