Today i found out, that my MediaPortal Crash during Audio (mp3) Playback.
First i try an other mp3 file with the same result, than i start in Debug Mode and try again with the same result.
Media Portal Crash, freeze (GUI dosen't respond)and an Windows Error Pop's up, but the Playback didn't stop.

Things if done in the Logfile

    • Starting MP in Debug Mode
    • Go to Musik
    • Browse through the Files
    • Select an mp3 File
    • after some seconds MP Crash, but the Playback didn't stop.

Yes thats right, testet with Windows Media Player and Media Monkey and in RC2 and older Versions that file played fine too.
On my tests yesterday i found out thats not File dependent, the error occurred on every mp3 i try to play.

First off can you change music player in MP from BASS to Directshow and see if you still have the error.

If only BASS can you try changing these settings one at a time
use ID3 tags in player settings tab
untick the upmix stereo to 5.1/7.1 button

    on music database tab
untick all thumb creation tick boxes
    and rescan your music

If any of these settings do not fix the issue can you upload an MP3 file that is causing you problems

Changing to Directshow fix it, and on Bass Playback the disable the upmix stereo to 5.1/7.1 Option fix it.

If you wont the File for testing, i setup an ftp, you can PM me for access.

I have no issues with upmixing mp3s using BASS and RC3 so I think this may be an issue with your setup.

Could you upload a sample file to

This file plays fine for me in BASS with 5.1/7.1 mixing on

This must be an issue with your soundcard not liking the upmixing. Might be worth trying ASIO player plugin if you want upmixing and see if that still causes crashes.

Marking this as not a bug given that with same settings and file this is working for me
