Which iSCSI Target did you use?
I am thinking about using the Starwind engine, but will that do?
I also bumped into a opensource Target, but it was meant for enterprises, and I am not sure how userfriendly the GUI is (if there is an GUI).
Also, did you buy the netboot /i, or are you trying the evalution?

    Hi,

I use the iSCSI Target of emboot SanFly, which is for free if you are not using any special features (and we don't need those).
I'm using the evaluation version of Netboot/i, so I have 25 days left to try :)

Latest Update: I do not get the NForce4 chipset working.

What's about installing a new SVN? Can I install it right on the server in the shared directory or must I install it on the client?

You install it from the Client onto the shared directory on the server.
I think you have to create a shared directory for each Client.
I did not try to use the same share from different clients.

When you say it will take a long time to install/ghost to the CF card how long do you actually mean??

I have a TinyXP, media portal and all codecs you will ever need, on a hard drive. Total install is 1300mb

I have made an image of it using ghost, now trying to put that image onto CF the computer seams to hang on 1%, so I thought lets just install TinyXP straight onto the CF card, so far its formatted the CF, for the last 20mins I've been looking at the same screen 1% again.

I have sorted out that problem, I think it was a doggy card, next problem thou. I have installed MP to k:\ with is a mapped drive pointing to \\server\MP when I log onto the server I can see all the installed files so I know that bit worked, but nothing will run, the prog or the config. I get no errors, I've done the .NET framework thingy in DOS

yet another update, the above problem is only there if I run windows from the CF card

The orignal image on Hard disk is fine, MP runs from network everything works, but only on HDD not CF

If the network is available and you start MP from the Network drive, but it does not show up, please check the running applications with the task manager.
Normally everything should work, but I can imagine that something hangs because it tries to write to the CF.
    Did you use EWF?

    Wohooo I made it.
Bennie your tutorial was very helpful. It runs perfect.
I have only one little problem. The bootscreen is really long. Don't know why, the system itself is very quick. I bought a noname 120x CF which was really cheap, but I expected a little bit quicker boot.
Thanks for your tutorial, it's all you need for a quiet media system :D

    Iwen,

During the boot screen the services are loaded.
If you have a lot of them, it just takes a bit longer.
If you compare the boot time with the movie on youtube (Top of tutorial) , does it differ much?

The whole boot time until MediaPortal is about 1min 52sec and the bootscreen stays about ~54sec.
I disabled a few services but it seems not to be quicker.
Not so bad but I'm a bit with envy when I see your boot time :) .
    I have changed the bootscreen+logonscreen but that can't be a problem !?
