As a test, you can copy the whole install directory to your compact flash card.
Or to a local connected USB stick.
If it still fails to run, you have another problem.

If the problem is still there, when running from CF or memory stick, uninstall MP.
Reinstall directly onto the memory stick or CF.
Is there any logging in the logging directory???

Success,
Ben

Well I have just install windows on a hraddrive just to check it wasnt me, install MP locally and everything was fine copied the local install directory to the network location, uninstalled MP from the local drive. MP ran fine from the network share.

So next is to take an image of the install and put a working image on the card, I will post back with the results

i know i said i would take an image of it, but i need it to work fully first, not much point else.

MP isinstalled and runs, my remote works all is fine, untill I try to play anything.

Wont play a DVD yet power DVD will play it, wont play an .avi yet WPM will play it. wont play a .mkv yet WMP will.

Doesnt make any sense to me that Windows Media Player will play everything but MP wont, I know the codecs are installed

Absolutely no Ideas.
Just installed XP and mediaportal onto a new CF and had no problems.
I used FAT32, but that should not give you any errors.
