Just got Media Portal installed and I like it a lot so far. One issue I can't seem to get past...

When I insert a DVD, Media Portal is not one of the Autoplay options. I can choose the drive letter inside the Media Portal UI, but doesn't seem to be able to handle the DVD insertion automagically.

    Do you mean in Windows?
    In other words, you want...?:
    1. MP is closed.
    2. You insert a DVD.
    3. Windows asks you what to do.
    4. You select that you want to play the DVD with MP.
    5. MP opens and automatically starts playing the DVD.
    Is that right?

I'm not entirely clear what you mean.
If MP is open then it can be configured to auto-play, ask etc. Please refer to the configuration described here:

    Thanks for the quick reply...

Yes to your first question. I mean in Windows when I insert the DVD

Yes, your scenario is correct. This is what I want.
At step 4 MP is not listed as an option. There is no handler registered with Windows.

    Does that make sense?

Sorry, MP is currently unable to do what you want.
It is possible to manually register a handler with Windows through the registry (I just did this successfully by copying and modifying the VLC handler in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers\Handlers\VLCPlayDVDMovieOnArrival). So, you could get MP to show in the handler list, and have MP open when you select it to handle the DVD. However, MP is not able to automatically start playing the DVD.
