Hi all,

my MediaPortal installation plays no video files. i have no clue why. it works fine with media player classic.
I read something about deactivating vmr9 but i can only find Configuration-Movies-Movies Post Processing - Video Mixing Renderer 9 and this one is already deactivated.

I'm sure you can help me, because im already getting some gray hairs about this..

OK, try opening MP config, top right is switch to expert mode, now you can see directshow filters as a option, you have a couple of choices, one requires the installation of .net3 this allows you to choose evr as renderer of choice, or if you wish to use vmr9, try turning off exclusive mode.
Also not sure about your onboard graphics, i would recommend checking any BIOS settings, especially for graphics memory usage, if set to auto, see if it will allow you to change to 128\256mb.

ps. make sure you are using the latest available drivers for your system, especially graphics related.

Remember Mediaportal is quite graphically hungry, so it needs above requirements.

ps. absolutely nothing in logs, besides saying they cannot play certain files, you might try filmerit in my signature to see if your system has codec problems.

hi,

i just changed the options for my onboard graphics to "DMVT maximum" and now, heureka, it plays the clock.avi from %windir% (but only every second second (?)) with the unbelievable size of 81 KB!

but it still wont play the Bigger Vid with 2,11mb ..

can this be real.. i mean its only a video.. on a 4 ghz cpu 1 ghz ram & win xp..

It's nothing to do with processing\memory power, it's all graphics related, so they need to fully support dx9 with at least 128mb of video memory.

No experience with your setup, but as i said try and see if there is a graphics chipset update, has been known to work wonders.
