Media Portal shuts down or freezes when LCD TV is turned off (1 Viewer)

I'm dealing with a strange and frustrating problem.

My setup is as follows:
SAPPHIRE 100255L Radeon HD4670 512MB
Pentium E5200 @ 2.5 ghz
EVGA 112-CK-NF77-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce e-7150/630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
46" Samsung LN-S4692D LCD TV

Software:
Media Portal RC4
DVBDream (linked to Media Portal via DVBsBridge)

Here's my problem: my system works great. I use my HTPC just as intended. But whenever I turn off the TV *first* before either A) turning off the HTPC or B) not exiting out of Media Portal, the system won't let me watch any more TV (after I turn the TV back on) until I exit the Media Portal software and restart it. The video image is frozen. If I watch the TV using the DVB Dream software.. I will not observe this problem.

There are two things at play here: hardware and software. Why would my HTPC ever even be aware if the LCD is on or off? And since it is aware, why does it behave this way? Is there some sort of setting in ATI cataylst drivers to prevent this strange situation? Obviously Media Portal is not happy to play with this situation, but this is the software I'd much rather use over DVB Dream. At any rate, I'd love to hear anyone's hypothesis on the HTPC's 'awareness' of my LCD being on or off! Also, has this been seen by anyone in the past?

I bet your connected via HDMI cable.
Sorry I don't have the answer, but I have found the reverse for me.
If I should my PC down, sometimes it hangs my TV.
All I can figure is its something to do with the connection to the TV and some how it doesn't close off right and pulls teh TV down.
my guess is your having a similar issue..but I ahve no idea why.
Just glad to know I am not alone

I use an ATI card on windows XP.

I have this too, and I believe this is 'normal' in the sense that when you switch input on the TV or turn it off, the PC looses the EDID info so it thinks your TV is no longer connected and it terminates the signal. The only way around this would be to connect something like this. Gefen also do a similar product.
