I am using the newest version of media portal, on a amd x2 4400+ cpu with 2gb of ddr2 800 6400 ram. When I start to watch tv the cpu usage is around 10% after a few channel changes it jumps to 90% and won't go back down, I end up having to restart it. I am using the nvidia codec with hardware acceleration for my 6150 chipset.

    Hello cornelius76,

I could not find specific information about the 6150 chip but you need a full directX 9.0c compatible video-adapter for running MediaPortal. I think the 6150 lacks support of the "c" version so MediaPortal won't run properly with it.

    hello...

can you tell me where have you seen this chip 6150 does not support Directx9c please?

I have been investigating, and found:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/mobo_gpu_features_benefits.html#gf6nf4
(supports completely directx9 and shader model 3.0)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX
(shader model 3.0 was introduced in Directx9c........ so 6150 chip must support it)

    Bit confused...

You're right then. I just provided the information that you need 9.0c in order to run MediaPortal and it was just a guess after all.
