Media Portal vanishing on startup (1 Viewer)

I have a same problem. Anyone knows a solution for this?

Update: When I start MP, MP vanishes and I can only see my desktop inside full screen window But I can hear sounds when go to left or right.

Is MediaPortal.exe running (see taskmanager)?

Please supply logs and sys. info.

I haven't been able to take care of the log & sys files yet but just to let you know, it is definitely running. My situation is the same as above (I can see it in the taskbar at the bottom and when i move the up an down arrows on the keyboard, i can hear the sounds and if i hit enter, i can see (via the text on the media portal "button" on the task bar) that it has changed to "my pictures", "my music" or whatever has been selected.

Its as if media portal has focus but it's completely clear so that i only see my desktop, explorer or whatever else happens to be maximized.

If I hold alt-F4, it closes.

Hi All,

Same problem here. MP gets to Initialising Plugins then vanishes. It's still there as I can here the sounds when I press the remote but just not actually being displayed on the screen. I was using 1.01 removed and tried 1.1 alpha with the same result

I have tried the following.....

Reinstalled video card drivers
Uninstalled (fully) MP
Installed 1.1 alpha
Uninstalled
Reinstalled DX9
Reinstalled 1.1 (as administrator)

I also get MP Config crashing when I try to open it. Well, I get an error telling that it's stopped working, but it hasn't It loads fine and I can make changes that are "kept"

I've also disabled all plugins.

One thing is that I'm on Windows 7 x64. But I've happily been running MP for months with no problems!

UPDATE: I installed 1.1 Alpha and it works correctly.

OK due to other issues with the system (games no longer working) I decided to re-install Windows over the weekend. 1.1 alpha is now running fine and my other problem (remote issue) has cleared up as well lol.

I'm wondering if this problem is not a MP one but something to do with DirectX?

If reinstalling system helps (and solves also the issues with some games) then I'm pretty sure that it was an issue with the OS / DirectX itself.

I have the same problem. starting MP and after initial screens - plugins, window manager and so on- MP disappears, but process is running. No matter if starting in fullscreen mode or not.

Im using MP 1.1.3.0, streamedMP skin and movingpictures 1.1.5.1328 plugin for a long time with no problem and suddenly it appeared.

any idea?
