It is almost perfect. But the feature you included is actually the drawback on funcionality. When renaming movies if you choose to scan lets say, your movie folder. It will find and propose to rename only the subfolder, not the subfolder files. What I'd like to happen is just the opposite. I wish it would keep the subfolder name intact, and rename only the video files inside.
To do that i have to scan folder by folder instead of using the possibility of automating the process. I wish you could add this feature on new releases.
Thanks for the good work

Let me just clarify what I mean. Most of the times, folder name is in a scan friendly format, and the file names inside it aren't. So if you want to rename the files inside the folder the program wont find the movie name online. And if you scan the whole folder structure it finds the movies names but doesn't let you rename the files inside it and keep the actual folder name intact. It prompts you to do the opposite.

I just found the Alpha of version 2 on the googlecode page and I'm quite impressed. I did find a very specific bug that I thought you might like to know about. It seems that you are unable to have more than 24 watched folders. The moment you add a 25th one the program crashes, and will crash every time you open it until you remove one of them.

I am wondering if its possible to change source for the Tv scrapings? I would rather use thetvdb.com instead. (because thats what mediaportal uses). I have found issues when using it for mythbusters as they have different seasons and episode listings.

This is not possible yet. Since today I have finished my exams for the current semester which means I have more time in the next weeks to work on it.

How about being able to resize the window so I can actually see the full path?
It would also be great to be able to have the app automatically create subfolders for seasons.

Thanks!

Just found this program, and damn it's great. No more manually renaming files, amazing.
Just two minor things: The first is adressed in the post above, being able to resize the window, og just scroll to see the full paths. Sometimes the filenames are longer that that :)
Second thing is it would be amazing to have some sort of support for multiple subtitle files. What I mean is, some of my shows I like to have subtitle for more than one language.
So I would like the naming to be:
Friends - 01x01 - The one where it all begain.avi --> Actual movie file
Friends - 01x01 - The one where it all begain.en.srt --> Subtitle file, English
Friends - 01x01 - The one where it all begain.da.srt --> Subtitle file, Danish

But instead, it doesn't see a difference between the two subtitle files, renames the first one to the new name, and leaves the second one with the old name (because it apparently can't rename the file when there is already one file with that name)

I realise that this may take a lot of time or may not even be possible at all, but I just wanted to make the suggestion, in the hope that it will get implemented sometimes. After all, if there were no suggestions, programs like this wouldn't move forward, right?

Thanks alot for this program, even without the minor improvement i suggested above it is still amazing. Keep up the good work :-D

Window resizing available

I added window resizing to the MediaRenamer windows. The source was modified in VS2008 and the included source reflects this.

Anyway to install this successfully without having to install the shell extension? Installer fails everytime i try to just select the TV Renamer - which is the only application i want.

Thanks.

The TV Renamer is not depending on the shell extension. How does the installer fail - is there any error message or something?

You (and everybody) could try out the latest build of the 2.0 version from Revision 8: /trunk/MediaRenamer/bin/Release

I've been working a lot on improving the series/movies detection. If you have requests or bugs just post them in the issue tracker on the Google Code page.
