I have been using the TV server plugin: Backup settings. I ran the plugin, then unisntalled MP and MPTV completely. Installed RC4, Checked all the settings. The only thing I had to do was add my TV card to the Hybrid group, change Aeon skin version in preferences.xml. Fired up MP - All works like a charm. Smoothest RC transition. No channel scannning. How easy.
Just for peace of mind, and just in case, I first manually backed up a couple of folders.
1. Aeon wide - due to changes I have made to BasicHome.xmp, and some skin graphics.
2. MP Plugins folder.
3. Thumbs folder, for all logos, moving pictures covers and backdrops.

Before I ran the Backup settings plugin to import settings, I copied back over over the necessary files and folders from these three folders - making sure that I dont over write new with old. The process of installing a new RC is usually a long proces, with channel scanning, and resetting everything. I got the whole process done with in 30min. I no longer dread having to go through all of the configuration processes to get everything back to how it was.
And RC4 is running very nicely. It has been 2 hours, and I havent heard any complaints from the kids, - or wife!!!

Thanks to all involved. Love the way you work!

I notice that RC4 doesn't come with Blue2 or Blue2wide anymore and it pops up a compatibility warning when you try to use the skin copied from RC3. There also appear to be some graphical glitches that detract from the way Blue2 looks now when using it in RC4. Will Blue2/Blue2wide be updated for RC4 or has support for these skins been dropped?

If you want this error to be permanently gone you can edit references.xml of that skin and change

    <version>0.x.x.x</version>

    to

    <version>0.9.4.0</version>

This only get's rid of the warning and doesn't all of a sudden make the skin work better with RC4 ;)

    I have installed RC4 (clean)

Xface skin works fine with RC4 on my computer. How do I get rid of that warning during startup?

Edit preferences.xml in the skin folder and change the version setting to <version>0.9.4.0</version> or something I think .. hope ;)

I have an issue when I tune a HD channel, like for instance SVT HD or TV Norge HD on Canal Digital DVB-C (720p) and then go back to normal SD channels. The picture is jerky and produces a lot of squeec sounds and strange colours (the picture is total garbage and sound is insanely crazy like). Will see if I can get a pircture grab of what I mean.

To fix it I just stop the timeshift and start the SD channel and it works again. Why this happens I do not know. Note, I have not tested this on RC3 but I have on RC2 and earlier, and then it worked. I use ffdshow for SD channels and CoreAVC for HD channels, but I also tested ffdshow for HD with no difference.

Will post more info if wanted .. :) (I can try to generate a log and stuff, but right now I am at work, maybe it is a known issue?)

Except for this .. RC4 seems to be a bIIIIg step in the stable direction! Very good work!

    new skins not detected

Got RC4 workin perfectly ; plays everything i throw at it (TVserver not installed), only one thing that's bugging me:

I've installed the indigo and monochromeskin to skin-directory. But in configuration-tool the're not detected. Therefore i can't use them...

Noob at editing xml, is there something ishould change in a xml-file???
    or is it a bug?

    anaybody same problem?

Probably you still have the old cache, and then it doesnt work.

Close Mediaportal and then open Windows explorer as administrator and just delete everything from c:/program data/team mediaportal/mediaportal/cache . Next time you start up Mediaportal, a new cache will be built and all skins will be present and usable.
