I´m having severe crashes with my mediaportal as of late. I´m mainly watching TV so as I can tell it happens at that point. it might be a general problem as it has been crashing also in home right after start.

I have reproduced it several times. If i turn TV on and watch eventually it will crash, picture freeze and ctrl-alt-del, kill mediaportal and back to dekstop. I have striped all plugins so I have a clean log. Put channel on RussiaToday and wait for the
crash.
It is somewhat similar to this report:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/mediaportal-1-1-0-beta-has-been-crashing-lately-71687/index2.html

my error log is full of this exception:
2010-10-16 08:36:24.578125 [ERROR][(3)]: Planescene(720,576,4,3,108671232,False,5):Unhandled exception in:
2010-10-16 08:36:24.671875 [ERROR][(3)]: Exception :confused:ystem.AccessViolationException: Det gjordes ett försök att läsa eller skriva till skyddat minne. Detta indikerar ofta att annat minne är skadat.
vid Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.PresentInternal(tagRECT* sourceRectangle, tagRECT* destRectangle, IntPtr overrideWindow)
vid Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.PresentInternal(tagRECT* sourceRectangle, tagRECT* destRectangle, Control overrideWindow)
vid Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device.Present()

In english it says: Exception ystem.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

This can also be found in mediaportal log.
I believe the problem lies with mediportal, and not the mediaportal server.

Attached logs below.

Hi,
more logs!

Tuned my dish and gained some signal/quality strenght as I´m getting paranoid.
Crashed now at home right after starting mediaportal. Same error as before, attached logs from debugmode.
Also experienced the freezing, but did not collect logs. Trying now to provoke again.

    If you by Gigabyte 78gm mean that you have a GA-MA78GM board, you should have an onboard Radeon 3200 graphics chip. Try and pull out your ATI 3870 and run with the integrated one. Sounds to me like a GFX problem...

    You are right. I recently put this card in. Can´t remeber when these problems started, freezing and crashing. I will pull it right away, and see what happens. Or rather I will change it to HD4650 1GB.

    Edit;
    Short update:
    Made some test runs in OCCT just to check the 3870 card and sure enough it had some 16 errors after ~4min.
    Made another test with my hd4650 and it had 0 errors after 4.20 min. Something is not ok with the 3870 card.
    I have not had any other problem that could be related to the card other than in Mediaportal.
    So I´m testing with the 4650 now, hopefully the crashes and freezes are gone.

    Edit 2;
    So far no crash. Thanks for the headsup pilehave. I still experience degrading picture and eventually freezing with audio
    still going. My machine is a single seatt. I have seen others with similar problem, so hopefully there is a solution for that.

    Edit 3;
    I´m not sure it was due to faulty GFX, most likely broken driver or both. I tried clean it up with driversweeper but couldn´t
    completly remove some files. CCC refused to start etc. So I took the easy route and made a clean install. Wow, this time it
    really works! No crash, no freeze. Even fifa11 flows super silky smooth. Happy days.
