As someone that was JUST about to download and install MP for the first time ... should I wait a week and start on the 19th? Or should I just download the RC and go for it today? As you might be able to tell, I'm a bit excited and impatient to start ... but if the RC isn't stable enough to use I can suffer through the wait

As a "normal user" rather than a Dev, I would completely recommend using the 1.2RC. It works very very well.

As a "normal user" rather than a Dev, I would completely recommend using the 1.2RC. It works very very well.

From stability point of view the RC is as good as the final 1.2.0. There wont be nothing more than few minor changes for the 1.2.0 release - updated tuning details etc.

Also you are able to update to 1.2.0 from 1.2.0 RC.

On all my four systems runs 1.2RC perfectly. so use it and upgrade later to the 1.2 final version

Devs and Plugin Writers

I have to say, it is only just dawning on me what and enormous change there has been to MP during recent updates.

Since 1.1.2, MP has been reliable, and very useable, with some great plugins/skins (the obvious favourites like Moving Pictures, TV Series, Online Movies, WebBrowser, StreamedMP etc). But it seems that in the last couple of months everything has taken a MASSIVE leap forwards in so many areas. On a daily basis I am finding new tweaks to existing Plugins and massive steps forward in standard MP features.

I know I have said thanks in this an other threads, but I really wanted to draw attention to some of my latest finds (so that others know about them) and to reinforce my appreciation.

In no particular order:

- Improvements to the Radio EPG so that it has the exact same user interface as the TV EPG: see here

- Tweak to the context menu to allow internet searching (using WebBrowser) or video searching (using Online Videos) of any item (TV, Video, Music etc): see here

- New Music Layout (including spinning CD fanart): see here

- Music info scraping: see here

- CouchPotato iPhone application with WiFi remote: see here

- SAF6 CODECs, ideal for idiots like me to get HD Audio at the click of a button: see here (OK, not a "new find", but SAF6 is a solid replacement for the reliable SAF5)

So thanks again to everyone for such a massive effort and an amazing product!
