Hi all, I'm new to MediaPortal and looking forward to using it. Just one catch and I apologize if it sounds silly - I want to run it on my retro WinXP PC and the last version to support that OS is 1.4.0. Now there's an option to just download the required components, so I thought I'd download required components on my Win10 PC, shift over the files to the WinXP PC and install MediaPortal offline.

The problem is that whether on WinXP or even on Win10, I get the error when trying to download required files - No Internet connection found! To continue the installation an active connection is required. There seem to be two issues - it seems that the download the required files, the installer queries a specific xml. First issue is that apparently due to no internet connection found, the xml can't be reached in the first place. Second issue is that even if the xml is reached, it will return the requirements for the latest Media Portal version instead of 1.4.0.

So if anyone knows of any way to get MP1.4.0 up and running on the WinXP PC, I'd be super grateful for any help. Maybe there's an archive of all the offline files needed for 1.4.0 somewhere?

Windows XP is outdated and cannot work normally with current sites. If you set all the necessary dependencies on your own, then with Deploytools should install MediaPortal, well, or in the temporary folder, find the Mediaportal installer and install it with your hands. But it is better to update Windows XP to Windows 10, install MediaPortal 1.38 ...

It is also possible to install MP 1.38.1 on both 64-bit Windows 7 and 32-bit Windows 7 (I have tried both). However, I also tried 32-bit Windows Vista, but MP 1.38.1 would not install, as the required version of .NET is not supported on Windows Vista. :(

I see no reason in Windows XP or 7, in my experience, on ancient Atom, Windows 10 worked faster than XP or 7...
