Hi everyone, I just installed Mediaportal on my laptop and it doesn't play any video of any kind at all. I press enter on a video, it thinks about loading it, then does nothing and i have control again. All videos play fine in Media Player Classic. I may try Mediaportal 2.3.0 and 1RC1 to see if they fare any better, but would prefer to use 1RC2 so I can use the Spinsafe skin. Music plays fine, pictures view fine.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

I've switched between using the default inbuilt MP filter and ffdshow. Neither works. And I don't believe it should matter. All videos work outside of mediaportal in Media player Classic.

Interestingly, I'm finding that Mediaportal 1.0 RC1 also does not work, even though it has definitely worked in the past on this same laptop but on a different WinXP install. So something is different, but I don't know what it is.

It's impossible to know what is happening if you don't post the logs.

I was having the exact same issue after installing RC2. I finally found out it was VobSub causing it, I was using the autoloading version which wasn't a problem with RC1. After changing everything was working again.

Seems that you get DirectX related error every time you're trying to play a video file.

Why is another question, maybe some of the devs know that the error mean.

This might be the related error code information:

    HRESULT: 0x80040273 (2147746419)
    Name: VFW_E_DDRAW_CAPS_NOT_SUITABLE
Description: Either DirectDraw has not been installed or the Video Card capabilities are not suitable. Make sure the display is not in 16 color mode.

Interesting! I'm using a modded driver which may have something to do with it. I'll switch to the official laptop graphics driver and see what happens.
