Would be nice to see at least one of these included in the next release of MP2. IIRC, there was no one included in the last release, so I couldn't test it directly..

Maybe someone can work on a real moving MediaPortal background!

Hi everyone, I have just installed MP2 winter alpha on both my HTPC and laptop to try out this skin feature but on both systems I get a black background screen. I have tried various files with the same results.. Any ideas?

Here you go. I have done nothing other than start mp2 and enable twilightsky.wmv for videobackground.

After selecting a video, the VideoBackgroundModel starts a player for the file, then the rendering synchronizes with the video background player.

First question: does this file play well when you start it manually inside MP2? Have you tried other video codecs? (You can change them under settings)

Hi morpheus_xx,

I have tried switching codecs and have even matched them to my 1.3rc install as the wmv files play fine within that release. I can use avi files as videobackgrounds no problem and it looks like wmv's are playing its just there is no video displayed. wmv's will not play even with the MP2 video player, same result, black screen.

Video players outside of mp play wmv files ok.

Hi David,

if the regular MP2 video player won't play your file, the background player does this neither, as it is the same player. I recommend to install LAV video decoder, it plays all my wmv nicely.

I have been using LAV video decoder as my preferred setup but it still wont show the wmv. I appreciate MP2's own video player would have to work in the first place but wmv is the only format that I currently use that wont play in mp2.

I have SAF 6.1.9 installed with everything set to LAV the same way I have it setup in MP1.3, which works pretty well with anything I throw at it..

I'll look into it a bit more.

thanks for the link Holzi, although it looks like the problems on that thread relate to MP 1.x.x . I dont have any problems running wmv on my current 1.3rc. The problem only exists within MP2 for me. That said I did have a problem with 1.3rc when I first set it up relating to my HDMI connection to my tv. In order for it to display video (and stop kicking out of films etc) I had to change the audio renderer to ATI Hdmi. I could'nt find an option like this to try in mp2.
