@pünktchen Sorry for the slow reply. I've been away for 3 days. CI+ is off-topic for this thread, but briefly... Yes. However I've read reports here on our forum that say certain CI+ CAMs can work with PC tuner CI slots as long as the provider doesn't require pairing. You're wrong. :) All conventional US cable STBs use CableCARDs. It's an FCC requirement. Even for PC there are more than two products:

ATI

TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner

Ceton

infiniTV 4 USB
infiniTV 4 PCIe
infiniTV 6 PCIe
infiniTV 6 ETH

Hauppauge

WinTV DCR-2650
WinTV DCR-3250

SiliconDust

HDHomeRun PRIME
TECH3 6CC

I understand the point you're trying to make (limited choice of product is bad/pointless), but I don't agree. I don't think the product choice is too limited, and I think it's better to have even one product than none. Again I understand the point you're trying to make. The relevant standards and certification processes are available to any person or organisation that wants to implement them, not just MS/WMC. Other software vendors could decide to add support at any time. Actually there are phone apps, tablet apps, TVs, and other devices which can receive TV using network-attached CableCARD tuners (eg. PRIME, infiniTV ETH). I don't think the CableCARD situation is as bad as you describe it... and it's far better than the situation with CI+. Again I understand the point you're trying to make, but I don't agree. Don't forget that WMC still works fine on W7 and W8. There are also unofficial patches/releases for W10. Clearly some people consider that it's still a viable solution even if you don't agree. With respect, I hope you will be wrong. It would be sad if the only legitimate ways that we could watch premium content were fully controlled by content providers and distributors. Choice of hardware and/or software would be great.
