Of course there is no need to enable AC3 encode, becouse your renderer do it.

"Need" is a wrong word, it mustn't be done since other wise audio renderer will reject the audio stream as it is encoded.

So you have plan to integrate samplerate/bith depth changer ? Is it really needed if there is already integrated in FFDshow

Yes, the resampler is planned to be done (almost the next new feature I would say). This is definitely required since not all people are using ffdshow as audio decoder and almost all other audio codecs lack such support for resampling (and lot of audio HW is incapable of playing various sample rates or bit depths). Similar resampling is normaly done by the MS default DirectSound audio renderer.

MP audio renderer cannot be tied to some specific audio codec.

BTW, you didnt answered most important thing - why FFDshow audio decoder is blocked in MePo graph? :)

I have no clue (updated the post to contain that :)) - but in any case it is off topic for this thread.

AW: MediaPortal Audio renderer - better video playback quality

    Hi,

thx Hoborg for your explanations! :)

I took hoborg's sample and tried it with tha again.

With madFlac (disabled 5.1 limit) the MediaPortal Audio renderer is not used.

With ffdshow as codec its working, my receiver gets 7.1 with 96kHz
But ffdshow shows as output only 16 bit.

Then I think its better to use ffdshow as FLAC codec at the moment to get the best at the moment.

So thats at the moment the only two options and the problem is driver related?
Do I understand that right? ;)

And did you checked your FFDshow setting - do you have 24bit output enabled here?

    Yes, its enabled.

    Here is a screenshot

With 24 bit disabled and using madflac as codec its also working and the new Audiorenderer is used.
But only with 16 bit ;)

So at the moment no was for 24 bit?!

Hm, and if you disable 16bit and keep 24 only?

    Hehe many possible combinations ;)
    No it didn't help.
If I deselect 16bit and keep only 24bit, again the wrong Audiorenderer is used and I get only 2.0
I tried these combinations with madflac/ffdshow as codec and played around with the "Connect as PCM" option.
Didn't have an effect or rather not the right one ;)

It wont help, since the drivers are not allowing 24 bit. There is no magic that can make it happen, only

    1) driver need to be fixed to support24 bit audio (assume HW supports it)
    2) audio renderer needs to mplement 24 -> 16 bit downsampling
    3) ffdshow is used for 24 to 16 bit downsampling

Ok, I can understand that, but when I read all these posts, it can took really long to get that fixed by ati :s
And the realtek drivers are only good without usning WASAPI... really nice ^^

Damn drivers, all crap. Ati, nvidia, creative *argh*
