    No. not work
Probably because my hdmi (ati HD 3850) is connected to the plasma tv so it have only stereo in its setup into control
    panel.

Yep, most likely since it is up to the driver to accept or reject the stream type. Could you test some 2 channel video or alternatively use ffdshow to resample the audio for two channels?

It work as you told you some posts ago. with 2 ch. work also with Xonar.
(But Xonar driver have the upmix 5.1 issue it well known ASUS XONAR Unified Drivers 1.11 & ASIO 1.0 patch (post periodically updated) brainbit | Unified Xonar Drivers, for that reason I force ffdshow to exit in 5+1 always)

Excuse but how hdmi and Xonar might be related?

forgetting ... with reclok wasapi work but I do not use it due to some lip synch issue . not progressive. but the audio lag quite too much for my taste..

AW: MediaPortal Audio renderer - better video playback quality

    Good Morning from munich,

actaully I have 2 Problems with the mediaportal audio renderer:

    1) If I use ffdshow for audio codec, the mediaportal audio renderer isn't in use.
    2) If I change in live TV to AC3, MP hangs up

    Thanks

    Markus

Most likely audio HW is not supporting the format you are trying play. Or ffdshow is configured for example to use passthru or AC3 encoding.

Please upload a log of this case.

    2) If I change in live TV to AC3, MP hangs up

Please upload the audio renderer log that shows the stream change freeze.

Wuold be possible to make a tiny application to test wasapi exclusive mode on several audio card and several formats? Wuold be usefull to allow MP user test own card outside Htpc eviroment and extend the reliability of this solution.

That crossed to my mind last evening. I just need to have a list for formats that we want to try (WASAPI wont allow any list to be queried - this was limitation of "old" WaveRT driver model they use in OS).

I'll cook some test application this evening.

I would say to try all combinations of the following for PCM:

    • sample rates: 32.0KHz, 44.1KHz, 48.0KHz and possibly 96KHz, 192KHz
    • bit depths: 16, 24 packed, 24 (32-bit aligned), 32 float
    • channels: 1-8
then try AC3 formats with the following params:

    • sample rates: 32.0KHz, 44.1KHz, 48.0KHz
    • bitrates: 640 kbps, 504 kbps, 448 kbps, 384 kbps, 320 kbps

Yeah, that would be a really good idea.
For AC3 also "uncommon" channels like "my" 5.0 situation.

Yep those combinations should be tried. How about the speaker mapping? :) Combinations start to skyrocket already.

then try AC3 formats with the following params:

I think bitrates are irrelevant since the audio card doesn't "see" inside the AC3 frames.

Also for Ac3 should be tested for 2.0, 5.1 and 6.1 (DD-EX). Maybe also 2.1 . long time ago was brodcasted by Sky through SkyBox
Should follow all ffdshow audio output

    1/0/0
    2/0/0 (DD 2.0)
    3/0/0
    2/0/1
    3/0/1
    2/0/2
    3/0/2
    3/2/1
    3/2/2

    and the combination with lfe

    1/0/0 + LFE
    2/0/0 + LFE
    3/0/0 + LFE
    2/0/1 + LFE
    3/0/1 + LFE
    2/0/2 + LFE
    3/0/2 + LFE (DD 5.1)
    3/2/1 + LFE (DD-EX 6.1)
    3/2/2 + LFE (DD-EX 7.1)
