AW: MediaPortal Audio renderer - better video playback quality

I want to give a short report:
With the latest version I have no problems so far.
So I'm looking forward to the release with the resample function :)

I played the same ugly Iggy 30 second file from within Foobar using wasapi. When playing it through the spdif wasapi, I get 2ch. with wasapi speaker setup I get perfect 5.1 ch DD 48khz 640kbit audiosignal.
I even played the song 5 times, all ok. Could it be a programm error of play-exclusive?? Or is foobar not using the event driven mode?

I doubt it would be issue with that play-exclusive because:

    • It is quite simple sample application, there is nothing odd in the code - just passing the samples to WASAPI device.
    • Issue is not reproducible with other cards
    • MP audio renderer has same issue, even thou the code is different

Why it works in Foobar? Most likely foobar is using polling instead of the event based mode for audio buffer filling. ReClock as well uses the polling. For now just disable the event driven mode in MP audio renderer's registry settings and Xonar is ok (as long as enough small WASAPI buffer is used so that the A/V sync issue is not "reality").

Good news for all Nvidia users. Latest beta GPU driver contains a HDMI driver that cures the event driven + exclusive WASAPI mode combination bug. Please note that it is beta

NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.63 BETA <-- HDMI audio driver revision is 1.1.9.0. The one in leaked 260.xx driver packet was 1.1.7.0 and it was still containing the bug, so it has been fixed quite recently.

I finally did a clean install.. using Win7 now. Also updated that spec sheet responding my sec HTPC. So basics should be ok now :)

Video plays nice with this renderer (not only placebo now), but I have A/V-sync issue. At beginning and even after pause sync is fine, but video starts delaying constantly. After a while (10min-) it is noticeable. Tried different settings but no improvement happen (disabling exclusive & event mode and shortening device period to 50000). What am I doing wrong this time?

PS. At log time 11:55 I pressed pause & play to get sync back.

Your right. problem here as well.

Time to bug ASUS to fix their drivers :p

Asus asked me more information about problem. I'll send them a called "TSD Feedback" for developers I guess.
I'm not confident about that but I have to try.

Please let me know if they need some extra information. But it should be enough for tehy just to test the play-exclusive.exe and have a look into that source code.

Guys, I have trouble playing a m2ts file. Could this be related to this audio renderer (i'm using the latest version) which I use?

My post with logs and info in:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ow-dxva-decoder-77591/index38.html#post657746

    From logs:

    16-09-2010 09:52:34.556 [ 3ac] WASAPIRenderer::confused:tartAudioClient
    16-09-2010 09:52:34.556 [ 3ac] start failed (0x88890001)

For some reason the audio client was not initialized (AUDCLNT_E_NOT_INITIALIZED == 0x88890001) please upload a sample file so I can try to reproduce that issue, althou it is not related to the no video visible, which might be MediaPortal issue.
